Indonesian Rare Deer

Bawean deer is one of the rarest deer in the world. This species are only exist in Bawean Island in the middle of Java Sea.


Bawean deer has brown skin. The male has three antlers which can grow up to 25-47 cm. It's used by male for fight over female deer on breeding season. They are actively looking for food at night. Most bawean deer living in the natural forest and teak forest in the western island of bawean.







Status: Critically endangered
